Outreach to Underserved Populations

Research unequivocally shows that students do better in school and in life when the arts are part of their everyday routine.

The Council’s current community programs include:

Community Arts Partnerships: (CAP) Community artists, Council staff, and representatives from various organizations/agencies assist underserved or at-risk populations to develop artist residencies. CAPs provide arts education to diverse constituencies, regardless of ability, financial circumstances, or ethnic origins. Under the Council’s leadership, this program takes place at social service agencies, art organizations, parks, college campuses, and after-school sites.

Current partnerships include the Tulsa Community Service Council, The Phoenix Rising Program, Laura Dester Shelter, Domestic Violence Intervention Services and Neighbors Along the Line.

Arts in Healthcare :This initiative is part of a nationwide movement that links expressive arts with healing arts. Traditional healthcare is infused with artistic outlets that promote the well-being of those who are ill as well as their caregivers.
