“For some schools there simply would be no art program without Artists-in-the-Schools. We find AIS an invaluable addition to the curriculum of the Tulsa Public Schools—one we cannot do without during this time of funding cuts.”
Ann Tomlins, Ed.D., Art Resource Teacher- Visual Arts, Tulsa Public Schools
In 2009, Oklahoma Chautauqua received the Outstanding OHC Project Award from the Oklahoma Humanities Council.
In 2009, the Council received a one-time $25,000 grant from the Charles & Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation through a program called, “Curtains Up!” In making the award, Lynn Schusterman, Chair of the Charles and Lynn Schusterman Family Foundation, said, “Tulsa is fortunate to be home to many outstanding arts programs – it is part of what makes Tulsa a great place to live! As we continue to face uncertain economic conditions, I wanted to help ensure that these organizations (Arts & Humanities Council of Tulsa, Philbrook Museum of Art, Tulsa Ballet, Tulsa Opera, and Tulsa Symphony Orchestra) continue to do what they do best – encourage creativity and make life beautiful for the citizens of Tulsa.”
