INTERESTED IN VOLUNTEERING AT THE ART OF BBQ?

Ambassadors– Ambassadors are assigned to barbeque teams participating in the People’s Choice competition held Saturday, July 12th.  Ambassadors are responsible for handing out bite size samples to all parties who purchase a Peoples Choice Taster Kit for $10. The sampling begins at 11:30pm, Saturday, July 12th. Food should be served until the food runs out. It’s recommended that you cheer for the team you represent during the sampling. You want your team to win!! Get to know your team…they’ll treat you well and ask you back next year!  We ask that you check in no later than 10:45am on Saturday @ the Volunteer Tent.

Beverage Tent– MUST BE 21 YEARS OF AGE OR OLDER. Volunteers will serve beer and soda products to customers. ID’s are checked by our staff once you arrive for your proper shift. You will receive a wrist band which allows you to serve and consumer beer. Make certain you understand the prices for all items. Prices are posted. Coupons are the only for of payment accepted, so please be aware of Coupon booth locations. Shifts are set up as follows:

Friday July 11th · 5:30pm – 8:30pm
Friday July 11th · 8:30pm – 11:00pm
Saturday July 12th · 10:30am – 1:30pm
Saturday July 12th · 1:30pm - close

Event Set Up & Break Down – Set up begins Wednesday, July 9th at OU-Tulsa campus located at 41st & Yale Ave. Duties include everything from hanging Christmas lights, tables, chairs, hanging corporate banners, setting up vendor booths, etc. We’re always looking for big arms! Bring your gloves, hammers, nails, and be ready to sweat! This is a perfect job for people needing community service points for school. Breakdown begins immediately following the event on Saturday and Sunday. We will make certain you have plenty of food and water.
Kids Zone – Volunteers will help in the Kids Zone with face painting, applying tattoos, games, inflatables, you name it. Make certain plenty of water is supplied to children so they do not become overheated. Kids Zone volunteers should arrive on Friday, July 11th at 5:30pm – 11:00pm and Saturday, July 12th at 10:30am – 3:00pm.
Ticket Booths – Volunteers working the Ticket Booths will sell BBQ Bucks (valued @ $1 each) to be used throughout the entire event. The only vendors accepting cash are artists and vineyards. Should any vineyard or artist redeem coupons for cash, please see your Ticket Manager for approval. If any customer is not satisfied and wants a refund, please see your Ticket Manager for approval. Tickets are used in place of cash. We will allow cash to be used on Saturday for Taster Kits only! For security measures, ticket booths are patrolled by Tulsa Police officers. The shifts begin on Friday, July 11th @ 5:30 – 8pm and 8:00pm – 11:00pm. Saturday shifts begin at 10:30am through 3:00pm.
Volunteer Check In & Information Booth – These volunteers should plan on attending several Art of BBQ committee meetings in order to gain a full understanding of our entire Event Schedule. For example, you need to know where each team is located by way of map, when the bands begin, where ticket booths are located, what time the meats are turned in, where meats turned in, when and where is the judges tent, what times the cooks meeting, etc. Our Event Brochure will help with many of your questions.
